LAND O'LAKES, FLORIDA - May 26, 2011– Artix Entertainment, the indie game development studio that delivers download-free browser-based RPGs to 130 million users, will release a new zone named Doomwood in the hit online browser MMORPG AdventureQuest Worlds this Friday, May 27 th, 2011.
AdventureQuest Worlds was released in October of 2008 and quickly became the company’s most popular game. Since its launch, developers have been continuously updating the game by releasing new content every Friday (yes, that’s every Friday– 111 updates so far!).
The new permanent zone, Doomwood, is the forest of the undead. Although the entire zone will be released in sections over the next several weeks, the first parts of the zone will be released this week along with one very powerful and very evil boss.
When Doomwood goes live, players will find that someone has re-opened the Necropolis, a city of undead, and raised the most powerful skeletal army in existence. The army has already destroyed all but one of the towns in Doomwood and is preparing to attack the last one. The king has dispatched nearly all of his paladins to fight the undead, but weeks have gone by and not a single paladin has returned from battle. Rumors spread quickly about the existence of a paladin slayer. It is up to the players to save the last city of Doomwood, find out what happened to the paladins, and make sure that Artix, the last of the paladins, doesn’t step foot there.
