Independent games developer AlgoCrunch is proud to announce the worldwide release of ‘Operation: Save Skiz’ to the iOS® App Store. Compatible with the Apple iPhone®, Apple iPod touch® and the Apple iPad®, this addicting space exploration casts players deep into space on a rescue mission to save the surviving Skizoids from the evil Lugnuts!
The Skizoids and the Lugnuts have been at war in what seems forever! While the Skizoids took advantage of their own natural energy resources in combat, the Lugnuts, a weak species really, relied on their superior technology and machines to gain a slight advantage in battle. But now, the Lugnuts are up to cunning new tricks, and have invented an evil machine they believe will end the war. They have built a machine that harvests the Skizoids own energy, thus turning the strength and advantage of the Skizoids against themselves! This is bad news indeed! It would result in a massive explosion fragmenting the planet and destroying the Skizoids forever! Thankfully, on the final day of battle, the Skizoids knew something sinister was going to happen, and in visions realized their impending doom! Despite all attempts to avoid the inevitable, the Skizoid army failed and the invention of the Lugnuts worked as intended. Unfortunately for the Lugnuts, enough energy was harvested on the planet to keep the Skizoids alive, and transport ships were dispatched to rescue the survivors before the Lugnuts got to them first! Now, on a distant planet deep within the universe, the surviving Skizoids are building their new home and planning their ultimate revenge …
‘Operation: Save Skiz’ features 2 unique modes of play, ‘rescue’ and ‘my planet’: In ‘my planet’ mode your objective is to rebuild the Skizoids planetary system by absorbing the asteroids floating around in space. Items can be purchased through the games in-app shop that allows you to upgrade and customize your planet. Players even have the option to visit other player’s planets through the games Facebook integration, and even ‘gift’ items to friends that haven’t yet been used! In ‘rescue’ mode your objective is to rescue as many Skizoids as possible! Here, Skizoids and Lugnuts are orbiting the planets and your task is to guide the surviving Skizoids to safety (to the transporter ship), somewhere on the level. This is achieved by drawing interconnected lines (bridges), on which the Skizoids and Lugnuts can travel. If a Skizoid is hit by a Lugnut, it dies, and a level is lost if you lose all your Skizoids. To progress in the game you must rescue at least one Skizoid on each level. Thankfully you have an arsenal of tools at your disposal making it easier such as teleporters, bridge bombs and pull-chains! Use them wisely! Later levels become increasingly hard and offer additional challenge with its moving planets, lasers, asteroid fields and plenty of other obstacles! Gem collecting is a very important part of the game as they are needed for shopping in the games built-in store. Collect as many gems as possible and spend them wisely as you plan your cunning revenge on the evil Lugnuts!
The 2 gameplay modes are interconnected; every Skiz you rescue and every gem you earn in ‘rescue’ mode becomes instantly available as currency in ‘my planet mode’.
