Cate West’s family and friends

Northampton, UK. 5th August 2009: As Cate West starts on the press tour of her first European story, Oxygen Games, on behalf of her publicist Wesley Carr, are pleased to release information on the budding crime writer’s friends and family:

Helen West

Age: 54

Occupation: Calligraphy Teacher

Profile:

Helen is a self-employed Calligraphy teacher, having set up the business in Arcadia City when she first moved here with Cate 17 years ago. The business has grown strongly and Helen now employs an apprentice full time to help with teaching her classes and private clients.

Since the death of her husband, James, Helen has raised Cate on her own. Recently, she has become worried about her daughter, who seems to be more and more tired and insular. She wonders if this might be anxiety about her new book or if some deeper ailment is responsible. Or perhaps Cate is just finding it difficult to keep up with her friend Yuki’s fast paced lifestyle?

How will Helen react if she learns of Cate’s unusual dreams and visions?

Hobbies:

Calligraphy, interior decoration and reading biographies.

Wesley Carr

Age: 29

Occupation: Copywriter&Editor

Profile:

Wesley is the publishing editor assigned to Cate’s first book. A bright and experienced editor in the crime fiction genre, Wesley has established many writers across the nation. Wesley holds a Bachelor's in English from University of Michigan and a Master's Degree in Medieval Literature from Oxford University, England.

Over the months working with Cate, he has developed a strong friendship with her and spends all his energies promoting her work. Can he propel Cate’s novel to the bestseller list?

Hobbies:

Reading, watching the opera and visiting quaint bookstores.

Yuki Takeba

Age: 26

Occupation: Stock Broker

Profile:

Born in Nara, Japan, Yuki immigrated with her family to United States when she was 8 years old. While in college, she roomed with Cate and the two have been close friends ever since. Both of her parents have since passed away and she has come to regard Cate as being as close as family.

Yuki is a talented and hardworking business genius. She has recently completed an MBA and, with a promotion to associate partner at her stockbroker firm, her life is faster paced than ever!

Cate and Yuki are both fans of Japanese art and cooking, with Yuki instructing Cate on the right ingredients to make perfect meals!

However, with her business commitments, will Yuki have as much time to continue her friendship with Cate?

Hobbies:

Volleyball, cooking food (Japanese and Italian) and watching classic horror films.
