Celebrate doomsday with a free copy of the Arcade County Game Builder

Dallas, Tx. - Provided the Earth is still here on the 21st, unFun Games is celebrating the so-called "new era" by giving away the Arcade County Game Builder for free - forever. Launched on August 31, 2012, the Arcade County Game Builder is the most fun way to create/share your own retro style video games (8/16-bit console/arcade era). It comes with a workshop where you can download sprites, over 700 royalty-free sound effects, a massive music instrument list for writing your own musical tracks, a sound sampler/effects processor, and tons more. You can make games without writing a single line of code, and there are lots of tutorial videos online you can view.

"Since it's going free, we had to lose a major feature: Designers won't be able to upload their games to our site anymore." says Robby Mulvany, owner of unFun Games and creator of the Arcade County Game Builder. "It was a great feature, but it had to go. "I never anticipated to have to release this for free. I was under the assumption that people wanted a unique way to create real video games. Maybe they do, but there was only one website that seemed to think it was worth their time, so it got virtually no publicity, despite information being readily available to the media. ps. Thanks for posting the videos, gametrailers.com!"

"I'm going in a different direction. There's too much risk spending 8 months developing a product that bombs. I'm planning a final First Star Online title, but before that I am prepping some unique online titles like Music Music Nation ( www.musicmusicnation.com) where you can write music online with friends. I'm also resurrecting some older game show titles and keeping it all free from now on. Outdated software and the explosion of the casual market has changed my perspective. I fought it for awhile, but I'm finally read to accept my place and start fresh. All my old source code is now available free on unfungames.com - that's how sure I am that it's time to move on."

The Arcade County Game Builder is available for PC at http://www.arcadecounty.com - Since going free, the possibility of a Mac version is now unlikely.
