FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CGSociety Launch World’s Biggest Video Game Challenge CGSociety, Full Sail University and Tornado Twins have launched ‘ The Tornado Twin Game Challenge,’ the World’s biggest computer game competition, which challenges 3D artists to turn their art into a video game.
Adelaide, S.Australia July 16, 2013 -- CGSociety is partnering with Full Sail University, and the TornadoTwins - YouTube’s number one game development channel - to host a global game challenge for the world’s top 3D artists, with a chance to win over $60,000 in prizes.
The ‘Tornado Twins Game Challenge’ will empower 3D artists to turn their art into a first person shooter using FPS Control, the Twins’ plugin for the Unity Game Engine. It is unique in bringing artificial intelligence, weapons and interactive worlds to life, without the need of a development team nor coding. The finished games will be exported to unity3d format for play in the browser, so that all competition viewers and judges can easily play the finished games.
The style of the game can be Science Fiction, Swords and Sandals, Magical, Western, Zombies or anything else the artist wants. This time a theme was not chosen to give complete freedom for artists to play in the massive FPS sandbox. CGSociety and partners aim for this 3-month challenge to be a kick in the rear to catapult artists into the most lucrative of entertainment fields.
The competition has a prize pool valued at over $60,000. There are 3 main prize categories and 7 open categories, including: best game-play, weaponry, antagonism, story-sense, reveals, environment and texturing & lighting. Sponsors are: Full Sail University, Game Textures, Autodesk, Allegorithmic, Mixamo, ACER, NVIDIA, Lightwave 3D, Modo 701, Pixologic, Boom Library, Video Copilot, Sketchfab, Think Kinetic, 3Dconnexion, Marmoset, FaceWare, CGWorkshops, CGTOD, and Ballistic Publishing. Judges include Lorne Lanning (Oddworlds), Oliver Barraza (Sony, Zynga, Rockstar, and Disney) and Phil Straub (Utherworlds).
The deadline for contest submissions is October 9, 2013. Winners will be announced around the end of October. For additional details and information on the rules, please visit our competition page.
