FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
There are some who might say that money can't buy you love. While this may be true, money can buy expensive software licenses and top-notch sound design. City Quest, a 2D adventure game, is nearing the end of its Kickstarter campaign and needs the support of adventure gamers to get a major audio upgrade and to expand the number of supported platforms.
City Quest revolves around the journey of a rural farmer to the city (and the hijinks that ensues). The primary distinction between City Quest and its predecessors are its rather unconventional storylines. The character can join the ranks of the mafia, become a hobo, climb the political ladder, and become a lad(y) of the night, each with their own endings.
Stone Monkey Studios, a two-man studio run by Ryan Nohr and Jon Rasmussen, are banking on community support to update their Unity 3D licenses, support more platforms (such as Linux and Ouya), and to enlist sound designer Akash Thakkar to bring the world to life through vibrant retro-inspired soundtracks. The duo have paid all expenses out of pocket thus far for game development and have been supporting themselves with day jobs.
"This game will likely offend anyone that plays it, but hopefully it makes them laugh at the same time," says Jon, the primary artist on the title. The humor, while occasionally crude, also has a wealth of wit thanks to Ryan, the primary writer and programmer. Ryan cites the King's Quest and Space Quest series as major sources of inspiration.
City Quest started as a love letter to the ancestors of adventure games; Stone Monkey Studios are hoping that fans of those games and the adventure game genre will help them deliver the best experience possible.
The Kickstarter campaign for City Quest ends on June 2nd.
Please contact me (Jon) at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com (for either Ryan or Jon) if you need any additional information. Also, I don't know how to write press releases... so any feedback would be great (even if you don't publish anything).
