Classic board games go mobile!

Schwerte, Germany; May 23rd, 2013 – Classic board games are the most fun when you play against friends. With the classic game of checkers, the publisher b-interaktive has released the first game that can be played online any time on all mobile smartphone platforms thanks to the new multiplatform gaming solution b-live from b-interaktive. b-interaktive has removed the previous platform boundaries by connecting Windows Phone, Android, iOS, and PC players using the Windows Azure cloud platform from Microsoft. More turn-based board games such Don't get angry (Ludo), Mill, Yahtzy are already being planned and should follow in the course of the year. Checkers will be available in the various app stores starting in mid-June.

The cross-platform gaming experience is made possible by Windows Azure. Developed by Microsoft, the cloud platform makes it possible to access game content online at any time. It does not matter what operating system the player uses. With b-live and Windows Azure it is now finally possible to start a game on your smartphone on the way to work, make a few moves on the PC during lunch break, and then comfortably finish the game in the evening, sitting on the couch with your tablet.

“The logic of the game, the backend, is provided on Windows Azure, and thanks to open interfaces, it can be accesses from any device, regardless of whether it is a Windows phone, an Android or iOS device,” comments Stephan Pepersack – Product Marketing Manager Windows Azure, Microsoft GmbH. “Windows Azure also allows a uniform game experience. Even if all the players log in at the same time on a rainy Sunday afternoon, Windows Azure simply scales up the resources and thus guarantees the same experience as on a sunny Monday morning.”

Features such as Facebook integration and the integrated chat function also support the networking of the player community. With checkers, b-interaktive makes the first move in a new age of mobile gaming.
