Monday 8th July 2013: Gamer Network Ltd announced today that national agency Creative England will join the list of investors at the GameHorizon Investment Summit, the UK’s premier games investment event, on Thursday 26th September 2013 at the Eurogamer Expo, Earls Court, London.
Creative England is providing £20k, secured through the Government’s Regional Growth Fund, for an investment at the GameHorizon Investment Summit to support SMEs based in the North, West Midlands and South West who apply through the event’s formal meeting process and present the best games pitch on the day. This relates to the objective of the Government’s Regional Growth Fund that is to prioritise support for areas that have been overly dependent on public sector employment. For full details on the RGF fund and the geographical areas that are eligible for this £20k prize, visit: http://www.creativeengland.co.uk/index.php/2013/creative-england-to-award-20000-prize-at-the-gamehorizon-investment-summit/
In addition, Creative England will also deliver a talk about its other initiatives to fund games development, that have recently included a £100,000 for UK studio Remode and its upcoming game Burrow. The GameHorizon Investment Summit has also confirmed a keynote talk from leading crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, plus an investment panel featuring Ian Livingstone CBE, Life President of Eidos, Indie investor and Chair of the Access To Finance Working Group on the Creative Industries Council. Other investors already confirmed for the GameHorizon Investment Summit include Nintendo of Europe, SEGA Europe Ltd, Standfast Interactive and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe XDev.
The GameHorizon Investment Summit is an opportunity for small-to-medium-sized games and tech companies to discover more about public and private games investment through talk sessions and an informative panel featuring investors, angels, platform-holders and funding experts. Games companies also have an opportunity to network and pitch informally and formally to investors.
Every ticket purchase for the Investment Summit includes a morning of talk sessions presented by key investors, the Games Investment panel, a networking lunch, full access to the Eurogamer Expo and Games Industry Fair – including exclusive Press Area – a huge discount off the GameHorizon Conference in Newcastle, May 2014 and access to the GamesIndustry International networking party in the evening. Attendees also receive an application form to apply for formal pitch meetings with games investors on the day.
Investors have full access to every investment meeting application form before the event and, if the application is successful, will use this information to arrange formal half-hour afternoon meetings with games companies in private meeting rooms on Thursday 26th September. Last year’s event featured more than 40 private meetings between games companies and investors.
Tickets for the event are limited, so if you’d like to book your place for this year’s Games Invest (£99 plus booking fee) and find out more about the process for applying for games investor meetings, visit http://gamehorizoninvestmentsummit.eventbrite.com
