Dakko Dakko Levels Up

Wales, UK, 9th January 2013. Dakko Dakko has announced a significant expansion of its development team, with the addition of two key staff. Joining the studio are Buzz! and Kinect Nat Geo TV producer Dan Croucher, and Soul Bubbles  and Perfect Cell  programmer Thomas Volbrecht.

Dakko Dakko was launched in 2010 by former Q-Games developer Rhodri Broadbent, and swiftly made a splash with its debut PlayStation title, The 2D Adventures of Rotating Octopus Character. This was followed up with a colourful journey of love and loss in 2012’s Floating Cloud God Saves The Pilgrims. Featuring work from renowned pixel artist Gary Lucken, both titles combine tight, rewarding game design with vibrant visuals, and were met with glowing reviews at launch. They remain highly popular and distinctive titles on the PlayStation Minis platform.

Rhodri Broadbent, founder, Dakko Dakko comments: “It’s been superbly rewarding and enjoyable starting Dakko Dakko, and bringing two successful and highly personal games to players the world over, but I’ve missed the camaraderie and collaboration of a larger team.” He continues, “Thom and Dan don’t only bring considerable expertise and natural talent in their respective fields, but also boundless enthusiasm for gaming and a shared vision of what really makes games fun.”

Dan Croucher, producer, Dakko Dakko comments: “This is a hugely exciting move for me. I've known Rhod for years, and I’m really looking forward to working together on the ambitious projects we have in the pipeline.” He added, “With many years of experience at the top end of game development, this role is an amazing opportunity for me to make a change and be part of a small, highly-creative team.”

Thomas Volbrecht, programmer, Dakko Dakko adds: “I make a point of chasing projects that are original and fun, and Dakko Dakko's next title is one opportunity I absolutely had to pursue.”

Dakko Dakko is set to announce details of its third title, due for release in 2013, shortly.
