What:    Scotland’s biggest computer games festival

Where:  Caird Hall, Dundee

When:   Friday 12-Sunday 14 August, 10am-6pm

Taking place over three days in Dundee’s Caird Hall, the public gets the chance to try out the very latest computer games for free.

On show will be 15 games produced by the world’s most talented young game developers, who are fighting for a video games BAFTA in the Dare to be Digital game design competition run by the University of Abertay Dundee.

The hugely exciting event has something for everyone– from toddlers and teenagers to grandparents and games developers.

There’s a professional gamer tournament run on high-end Intel machines, game jams with professionals and kids building new games from scratch, games industry talks, and a showcase of the latest games from companies like Blitz Games Studios, Crytek and Sony.

The Dare ProtoPlay games festival is organised and run by the University of Abertay Dundee and sponsored by Intel.

The festival is the culmination of nine intense weeks of game design by 15 student teams competing in Dare to be Digital, the world’s leading game design competition.

The Dare ProtoPlay festival has previously been part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. This year it is coming home to vibrant Dundee– and is bigger than ever before.

All of the Dare to be Digital 2011 games will be judged by members of the public and industry experts at Dare ProtoPlay, with three winning teams picked to then compete for the exclusive BAFTA‘Ones to Watch’ award.
