Dark Acre Jack Gives Birth to 'the Child', a Ludum Dare 48 Entry

The Child is an isometric 3D action-adventure game in which the player is a security guard at a research hospital who wakes from a nap to find a disaster in progress. Built in 48 hours for the Ludum Dare Challenge #20, it's Dark Acre's second successful entry into the solo competition.

Vancouver, Canada -- May 3, 2011 -- Dark Acre Jack has given birth to a mutant child after 48 hours of intense labor pains.

The most recent Ludum Dare 48-hour game-making competition concluded with Dark Acre Jack pushing another entry through at the finish line. This is the second time around for the Canadian indie game developer, and a much improved attempt since the previous challenge.

In 'the Child', the player is a graveyard-shift security guard who is woken by an alarm to find a disaster in progress. An encounter with a dying patient propels the player into a basement level that has been put on high alert. Using the power of a strange newborn child, the player can manipulate the environment to unlock doors and attempt escape from the facility, but must beware the dangerous saw-bots!
