31/05/12 – Green Man Gaming ( http://www.greenmangaming.com) - Europe’s fastest-growing independent digital games distributor, has positioned itself for continued expansion, by appointing former Sony PlayStation man Darren Cairns, as the company’s Marketing Director – with immediate effect.
Reporting to Managing Director, Paul Sulyok, Darren is briefed to continue building the company’s engagement with its rapidly growing international consumer base, while strengthening Green Man Gaming’s (GMG) relationships with its publishers – creating marketing campaigns that further increase sales across the GMG platform.
With over 15 years marketing experience, Darren was Head of Online Marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe for six years, leading the company’s digital strategy for PlayStation, taking an instrumental position in the development and roll out of Sony’s online PlayStation Network. Darren has also held senior digital roles at Yahoo!, BT and Three, the mobile network.
Founded in 2010, Green Man Gaming now sells more than 1,000 games from 100 publishers to core gamers in over 155 countries around the world, and operates regionalised with local partners in four European territories, including the Czech Republic, Austria and Switzerland and its partnership with Gaikai allows gamers to try major releases before they buy.
Positioning itself for the next stage of its development, the Eden Ventures backed company recently recruited Martin Baxter to become its Head of Trading, with the former HMV and Gamestation pre-owned games specialist joining GMG to extend the company’s consumer proposition.
