DCGames Fest Call for Submissions

DCGames is seeking submissions from game designers and developers to showcase as part of DCGames Festival 2012, which will take place September 1 in the heart of Washington D.C. Submit your idea by April 30 to be part of our big/outdoor/urban games showcase this summer at the Tidal Basin's  West Potomac Park

Fresh from its successful  inaugural event during DC Week last November, DCGames Fest 2012 aims to further its mission of bringing the surrounding community together in the name of games, specifically big/urban games. Whether your work is in augmented reality apps or traditional pen-and-paper games, we want you to help us create the next cultural cornerstone of D.C.-produced media and make DCGames Fest the massively multiplayer event of the year!

What kinds of games is DCGames looking for?

Designed to take this interactive medium beyond the screen and confines of consoles and controllers, "big games" are about immersing players in a shared and social experience, often using mobile or digital technology, but sometimes with much simpler methods such as cards or other props. For examples of big games, please visit our  website and  Come Out and Play, the group that started it all.

What do I need to do to participate?

Submit your game  using this form by April 30 following the  guidelines and FAQ on our website. (Be sure to pass this info along and share it with your game dev friends!) All games will be considered by our jury. Keep an eye out for our email regarding submission acceptance around May 1, and get ready to bring your game to the National Mall on September 1.

How will my game idea and I benefit from being a part of DCGames?

DCGames will offer a chance for you to debut or showcase again your game to the massive audience visiting the nation's capital. With this large pool of participants, you will have a unique opportunity to gain feedback onsite and make adjustments to your game as needed, allowing it to expand and grow in meaningful ways that you or your team may not have considered before. While there's no set theme for DCGames Fest 2012, you can take advantage of the event's location in the middle of D.C. and create a game with that theme in mind, if you'd like.

Your submission will also support a relatively new festival and help cement games as a cultural cornerstone in D.C. Simply put, DCGames is the premiere local games festival to get your game out there and played by enthusiasts and the public alike.

I still have questions about submitting my awesome game idea.

If you still have questions, feel free to shoot us your question  here, and we'll get back to you as quickly as possible.

Keep an eye on our  websiteTwitter and  Facebook for future updates!
