CAMBRIDGE, MA – March 01, 2012 – Demiurge Studios, Inc., a leading independent development studio that has worked on such titles as Rock Band, Mass Effect and the upcoming Shoot Many Robots, today announced several promotions within its studio leadership and the formation of an advisory board.
Dr. Kurt Reiner, Demiurge’s technical director of over five years, has been promoted to the role of general manager, where he will oversee all game production at the studio. Albert Reed, co-founder of Demiurge, will define the studio's product strategy and lead business development efforts in his new role of CEO. Bill Reed, the current CEO, will remain Chairman of the Board and Treasurer.
“For years now, Kurt has been cultivating Demiurge’s world-class engineering department and production practices,” said Albert Reed. “I’m thrilled to see my good friend and co-worker take the helm as GM.”
In addition to the internal organizational changes, Demiurge Studios is pleased to announce the appointment of two advisors to its board: Michael Dornbrook and Geoffrey Hyatt. Michael was formerly Chief Operating Officer of Harmonix Music Systems. Geoffrey brings a track record of highly successful entrepreneurship and fund-raising experience along with his passion for games.
“After ten years of self reliance and heads-down game development, Demiurge is happy to benefit from the guidance of Geoffrey and Mike,” said Bill Reed. "With over fifty years of experience between them, the studio is now well equipped to take advantage of our current momentum."
Since its inception, Demiurge Studios has been assisting with development on some of the biggest franchises the videogame industry. Demiurge will launch Shoot Many Robots, its first original title, with Ubisoft in March of this year and is currently working with Gearbox Software on another project, due out later this year.
