Desura Launch User-Generated Content Digital Distribution Store

After a year in private-beta, Victorian company Desura ( www.desura.com) today launched its community driven digital distribution service for games developers and publishers.

Desura is a digital distribution platform for PC based around the game and modding communities. Today’s announcement launches a small selection of titles which aim to provide access to the best games available on the market.

Desura is built for PC gamers, with users encouraged to post reviews, news and images, and is the only digital distribution service that supports user-made content (mods) for games.

Scott Reismanis says developers and publishers on Desura are in charge of their own experience, controlling the content shown in their games profile from news updates to videos and images.

“We don’t want to be just another“static” shopfront.  By giving developers a voice and the ability to interact with the community discussing and reviewing their games, they can create better titles and a more engaging experience for their customers on Desura,” he said.

The aim of Desura is putting the best games, mods and downloadable content from developers at gamers fingertips, ready to buy and play. At its heart is a digital distribution application which can serve (and patch) games, mods and add-ons to its members.

Desura was created by the team behind the ModDB ( www.moddb.com) and IndieDB ( www.indiedb.com) with 4.3 million monthly users and game developers soon to be encouraged to trial the service.
