Xbox Live Indie Game developer Neuron Vexx has announced the impeding release of Dinora, an open world 2D sandbox adventure game. Blurring the line between genres, Dinora blends RPG style character development with 2D platform action, framed in a vibrant, evolving world. Combined with gameplay staples, such as exploration, creation and combat, a deeper emphasis is placed on mechanics like relationship development and farming.

In describing his vision for the game Zac Wootton, the man behind Neuron Vexx, comments: “I wanted to create a world that players could form a connection with, something I felt could by achieved by adding depth to character relations. By giving players options like marriage and children I hope to get them to think of characters as more than just resources. If I can get you worrying that your kid might be infected by a werewolf, during a full moon, my job is done!”

Defining features of Dinora include:

  • Develop character relationships, watch them age, marry and have children
  • Build homes and workshops for yourself or rent to other characters
  • Train other characters in various occupations to produce specific goods
  • Functional pets that can provide resources or protection
  • Creation of unique weapons by enhancing their elemental effects

Aiding immersion into the world of Dinora, an underlying story arc is used to drive gameplay. An evil force is stirring, threatening to bring death and destruction to the world. Tasked with preventing its awakening you must summon, slay and sacrifice four spirits aligned to the elements of the world. Will you spend your time just living what little life you have left or become a hero by appeasing the Darkness and saving the world?
