Dutch Games Association appoints new chairman

24-11-2010, Utrecht

Last week the games industry trade organization, the Dutch Games Association, chose its new chairman during its annual general assembly, this time held at the Game in the City congress in Amersfoort. Hobers was chosen by DGA’s members to succeed departing chairman and co-founder of DGA, Frank van Oirschot.

“Needless to say I am very happy with this appointment and proud to be able to continue the fantastic work initiated by Frank and his fellow board members.”, said Hobers.“During its first year, a solid groundwork has been laid down and I look forward to building upon that foundation, also ensuring every member feels represented by us in the best possible way, so that we can build an even stronger Dutch games industry.”

Hobers, who will lead a board of 10 people, assumes the role of chairman with immediate effect and will use the coming period to chart all current issues.“The Dutch games industry is very volatile at the moment and it therefore is good to have a beacon of coordination, communication and business development support, as well as an organization people can revert to if they want to bring positive change. The focus will therefore be on making an inventory of issues at hand and I can’t wait to start with that.”

“With Jurrie we have a strong new chairman and above all somebody who knows all aspects of the games industry through and through. As former VP of Codemasters en in his current position as advisor and consultant he brings a wealth of experience which is extremely useful for DGA”, according to Frank van Oirschot.“I wish him the best of luck and I am convinced DGA is in capable hands.”
