e-virtuoses ANNOUNCES ITS FIFTH EUROPEAN SERIOUS GAME EVENT

The Grand Hainaut Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) today officially announced that this year’s “e-virtuoses” international Serious game conference will take place at the Phénix in Valenciennes, northern France, this coming 4-5 June. For its 5th edition, the event will focus on highlighting emerging trends in the increasingly important world of Serious games. The aim of the event is to position Serious games on the same quality level as commercial AAA video games (e.g. Call of Duty, Starcraft 2, Skyrim etc.) while simultaneously offering reduced production costs to meet the needs of SMEs and organisations with limited budgets. This goal is central to this 5th edition of “e-virtuoses”.

In addition to the core international event, the organisers are launching two calls for candidates: the International Scientific Symposium and the 

“e-virtuoses Awards”.

Research takes centre stage with the Scientific Symposium

For the second year running, “e-virtuoses” offers international research professionals the opportunity to share their results and discoveries on the impact of Serious games and video games in general. This year the Scientific Symposium will focus on the following issue: 

“Games for all purposes? Appropriation, repurposing and rejection.”

Awarding the Serious games of tomorrow

Two new categories are making their first appearance at the international “e-virtuoses Awards 2013”: Serious Gaming and Gamification. Awards will be presented in a total of five categories.

• Category 1 : Training 
• Category 2 : Communication and Awareness
• Category 3 : Health
• Category 4 : Serious gaming – NEW FOR 2013
• Category 5 : Gamification – NEW FOR 2013
