Edge reborn in print and online

- E3 hosts exclusive reveal of cover

1/6/11 - Future, the UK’s leading games media group, today announces a comprehensive revitalisation of Edge, its world-renowned multi-format videogames brand.

Edge magazine first launched in 1993 and this redesign is the deepest makeover the brand has ever had– with a redesigned magazine and a brand new website. The objective: to better serve the games development and publishing community along with high end gamers - delivering a smart, international print and web offering.

James Binns, Head of Edge International says:“Edge is a sleeping giant. The team has delivered on the promise of the brand with a global, progressive product. The revitalised magazine is everything a modern magazine should be: beautiful, detailed and collectible. The new look website is slick, useful and fast - we’ll expand our audience and our relevance.”

Edge magazine has had a comprehensive front-to-back redesign. It features more space for the most authoritative reviews in the business, sophisticated restyled features and a new development section called Create. As well as a fresh, modern design, the magazine has improved paper quality and has new dimensions (now at 256x200mm). The re-launch issue will be 212 pages– the thickest edition Edge has ever published.

The relaunch issue, on sale on Thursday 9 th June, is being exclusively revealed at the world’s premiere videogame event E3 in Los Angeles on 7 th June with an exclusive cover story.

The Edge magazine website, hosted at www.next-gen.biz, has been completely rebuilt to better cater for the entire gaming community, from gamers to publishers to developers.

News coverage is more up-to-the-minute and global than ever before, combining fast-reacting newsflashes with more in-depth reportage and analysis.

Quick access to new Game, Design and Business views allows for simple, straightforward filtering of the most relevant content, while the innovative MyEdge feature allows you to customise the site in precise detail -“Follow” topics to create your own personalised newsfeed.

Long recognised as among the best places to find work in the games industry, the site’s job board is now powered by market-leading recruitment engine www.madgex.com - making Edge more vital than ever for industry professionals.

Tony Mott, Editor-in-Chief says:“Edge tells its audience what’s great, what works and what’s next. The expanded team is committed to delivering the world’s best games coverage.”

Edge launched in 1993, changing the shape of videogame media and setting editorial and design standards for which it is still renowned today. Now, as then, it offers uncompromising, no-nonsense journalism and unrivalled coverage of gaming’s widening cultural impact.
