ELSPA Meet With MP Over Private Members Bill

Thursday 10th January/...Director General, ELSPA, Paul Jackson recently met with Julian Braizer MP to discuss his Private Members Bill which looks to enable senior appointments to the BBFC and the classification of films and games to be come under the scrutiny of Parliament.

Mr Jackson said " I was most grateful for the opportunity to meet with Mr Brazier to explain how the classification system for games currently works and the challenges we face in this area. Mr Brazier took the opportunity to express his concerns on the impact of violence in films and games on society which led to the introduction of his Bill. We also discussed the possible negative impact this bill could have on the games classification system and the challenges we would face as an industry with the proposed system in place."

He went on to say "Following on from this we agreed to stay in close contact and give advice and clarification to ensure the views of the industry are taken into account while the Bill is being developed and its merits debated by the House."
