Ernest Cline, author of "Ready Player One," delivering GameSpy Technology keynote

GameSpy Technology has just confirmed Ernest Cline, screenwriter and author of Ready Player One, to deliver the keynote on Monday, Oct. 10 for their "Building Iconic Online Games" tutorial day.

Ready Player One is set within a global MMO of epic proportions and follows the 80's-tinged adventures of protagonist Wade Watts as he attempts to unravel a gigantic mystery/treasure hunt within the game. The book is filled with references to and appearances by video games both classic and current and explores the nature of life both in and out of a game world that has essentially replaced the internet. The topic of the book should be of particular interest to both the developers and gamer media attending the conference.

Cline will be delivering his keynote and Q&A at 9:30 in Room 4 of the Austin Convention Center on Oct. 10. He will be available for select interviews following his presentation.

About Ready Player One:

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, READY PLAYER ONE is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.
