Families ‘Play Nice’ in Alpha Colony, Which Combines Competative and Cooperative Play

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lafayette, Colorado November 1st, 2012 – DreamQuest Games has luanched its Kickstarter campaign for all new family-friendly game, Alpha Colony.  What makes the game wholly unique is it’s interesting balance of competitive and cooperative play.  The goal of the game is to build the most prosperous prospector on a new and distant colony.  But in Alpha Colony, it takes more than being the best to win.  If the colony doesn’t cooperate to thrive as a whole, everyone loses.

Alpha Colony’s emphasis on cooperation makes it a game the whole family can enjoy.  While creating an interesting dynamic for stronger players, it also ensures that younger players or those who don’t usually play games can join the fun without becoming discouraged.

DreamQuest has a 150 page design document and a prototype.  They hope to raise $50k on Kickstarter in order to complete the game.  As reward for supporting the game, backers receive Kickstarter-exclusive content that won’t be available once the game is available for general sale once the game is released. This exclusive content includes extra playable races, new planets, stickers, figurines, signed art prints and more.  There are even pledge levels for as low as $100 that allow backers to incorporate their own family-friendly game ideas into the game!  Opportunities to contribute include naming a playable planet, inventing an in-game event or or designing a whole new playable race. Contribution-level pledges are available in limited quantities, and will likely go fast.

At Kickstarter, campaigns are ‘all or nothing’.  Which means, DreamQuest Games will have 30 days to raise the entire $50k or no money is collected from backers and the Alpha Colony won’t be funded.  On the other hand, it is not unusual for successful campaigns to raise their goals several times over.  If DreamQuest Games earns over $50k for their project, they will be giving it all back to their supports in the form of more content, more gameplay modes and awesome features.  The exact details of their stretch goals are on their Kickstarter campaign page, as well as www.alphacolony.com
