Fantage Debuts ‘School Challenge’ Nationwide with Many Prizes to Winning Classrooms

FORT LEE, N.J. – Jan . 23, 2012 Inc. ( Fantage), an online virtual world for kids ages six to 16, has kicked off its nationwide School Challenge, inviting classrooms around the country to compete for the chance to win money for their school, in addition to other prizes. Utilizing Fantage’s unique in-world virtual classrooms, which offer a place for teachers to connect with their students in a safe and fun online setting, the School Challenge tests comprehension in math and language skills through engaging mini-games. Multiple competitions will be held throughout 2012, and interested schools can visit the Fantage Teacher Page now for details on signing up to participate.

“We created the School Challenge as a way to introduce our virtual classrooms to teachers and students,” said David Hwang, CEO, Fantage. “As a parent myself, I recognize that teachers are an integral part of any child’s life, and this competition provides us with a way to give back to schools while engaging the kids in a fun and educational activity. Because each student’s success contributes to the odds of winning the grand prize for their school, it also has the benefit of encouraging them to study more and learn new things.”

Fantage kicked off the competition in December 2011, with Los Angeles school Christ the King. One fifth-grade classroom split into two teams to compete for a cash prize and a gift certificate for school supplies. The top participant from each team also received an Amazon Kindle, and all participating students were awarded one-month premium Fantage memberships and commemorative t-shirts.

“It’s important to offer varied activities to keep the kids interested in learning, and the Fantage School games delivered,” said Veronica Castillo, fifth grade teacher, Christ the King School. “Everyone in the classroom was excited to participate, and the School Challenge provided extra motivation for my students to focus on important subjects like reading and math. In addition to benefitting the students, the school also received a cash prize, which any teacher can attest is extremely useful.”
