FGOL Releases Major New IP - ‘GRABATRON’

The biggest game yet from the makers of Hungry Shark

8 th December 2011 – London, UK.  Future Games of London (FGOL) follow up their Hungry Shark series, with groundbreaking new IP ‘GRABATRON’, available simultaneously for iPhone, iPad and Android today.

Following the runaway success of the Hungry Shark series, with over 30 million installs to date across iOS and Android, FGOL have been hard at work for over a year on an entirely new IP and worthy successor to the globally loved Shark.

Ian Harper, Managing Director commented: “The smart phone market place has matured immeasurably over the last 18 months. It’s critical that new games drive innovation and have the very highest production values. This is why we’ve invested such a huge production commitment into GRABATRON. It’s our largest development effort to date and represents over a year of work for our team.“

The game is set in a fictional vintage Americana world draped with B-Movie references, but tries not to take itself too seriously. The advanced physics engine flies your craft and operates a retractable claw, used to interact with the 'puny humans' and mess with their stuff. At launch Grabatron features over 20km* of game play area, with more to follow soon.

“FGOL is driven by original new IP,” adds Harper. “It’s what we do best and why we love the smart phone and tablet platforms. It’s exciting to see users appreciate high quality game play and innovation. The economics of successful titles, like Hungry Shark, allows us to invest so much more time and resources into our new games. GRABATRON represents a first glimpse into that investment.”

Chris Dawson, Creative Director added: “We’re thrilled with the initial feedback to GRABATRON. We’ve made a very deep game, with hours and hours of exploration. We’ve spent a huge amount of time on the physics engine, graphics, user interface and overall experience. We’ve applied console quality and thresholds to our production values and game play mechanic, without losing any of the instant pick-up-and-play appeal.”
