First Worms™ Merchandise Launches in time for Christmas

London, UK – Thursday 1 st December, 2011  – Today, warriors of worming Team 17 are delighted to announce the launch of the first Worms™ merchandise products, just in time for the Christmas holiday shopping period! Worms™ is the hugely successful, award-winning turn-based strategy videogame franchise that boasts millions of fans and players worldwide. The Worms™ brand has been at the forefront of modern distribution trends and has seen sales in excess of 13 million on mobile phone handsets, as well as enjoying huge success on the new digital video-game platforms, with Number 1 hits on Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation® Network, and Steam for PC.

Team17 can confirm that the first Worms™ merchandise items are now available, with the release of the Worms™ officially licensed “Super Sheep Plush” , based on the iconic (and woolly!) weapon from the best-selling series. The “Super Sheep Plush” is an adorably cute 29cm plush toy, which also includes a sound chip that plays the Super Sheep’s explosive fanfare when squeezed. The plush is available now from a variety of quality partners across Europe, including Amazon.co.uk, TheGeekestLink.com (United Kingdom), Amazon.de, Gamelegends.de (Germany), Fnac.es (Spain), GAME.se (Scandinavia) and Foregames.nl (Benelux), with more to follow soon.

A fantastic Worms™ poster is also available now; a full colour ‘maxi’ poster that features five colourfully attired (and heavily armed!) Worms™ characters adorned with the slogan “WE’LL GET YOU!”, and can be purchased from here: http://www.gbposters.com/Worms-Characters-Maxi-Poster

With further Worms™ licensed merchandise already in development and set to be launched in 2012, including a fantastic range of collectible plushes and keyrings from IGS (GameOn®) which can also be pre-ordered now, the product line-up also includes apparel, squeezies, mugs, figurines, collectibles, key rings, and more , it is an exciting time for the Worms™ brand.

Alan Perrie, Head of Marketing at Team17 says, “Considering we only started this process earlier this year, we are incredibly excited by the results and where this merchandising program is taking the Worms™ brand. We look forward to bringing more merchandise partners on board in 2012, as we also continue to develop and bring to market new, high quality and exciting Worms™ games and Apps across numerous platforms next year, and also integrate our merchandising program even further into our release schedule.”

Simon Kay, CEO of AT New Media, the merchandise licensing agency partner of Team17 says, “Worms™ as a brand is selling more units now than ever before, and with this growing interest, we have started to see a fantastic range of products and concepts develop. We hope that the existing and new Worms™ fans love the “incoming” range of merchandise, and enjoy how the significant depth and customization that exists within this great gaming brand lends itself to some very exciting and innovative products indeed.”
