Fish in a Bottle have partnered with world-wide entertainment brand Nick Jr to deliver the most recent in a string of high profile children’s web games. Building on the success of projects for the ‘Poppy Cat’ and ‘Ben & Holly’ brands, the Peppa Pig games were commissioned to drive engagement for the hugely popular children’s television series.

Two browser games were created as a part of the project, Peppa Pig: Basketball and Peppa Pig: The New House. They promote the values and image of the Peppa Pig brand to an audience of 3 to 8 year olds. fish in a bottle approached the challenges of meeting the expectations of such a wide spectrum of cognitive levels. These included extensive user testing, intuitive gameplay, cut scene integration and clear progression with no lose state.

Justin Eames, fish in a bottle’s Managing Director commented, “Understanding younger audiences and delivering a game that’s engaging for such a diverse range of developmental stages is a great reward. We’ve done that by making Peppa Pig both simple and exceptional in its quality. That’s a challenge that’s easily underestimated.”

The games feature the voices of the Peppa Pig vocal cast. This, combined with seamless integration of gameplay and cut scene and the high quality of the art that fish in a bottle created in house, allowed the company to achieve the balance between play and animation that was key in creating an ‘interactive episode.’

At the latter stages of production, a thorough user testing stage was implemented where the studio worked closely with children to refine and distil the simplicity of the core gameplay. Renowned for their work with younger audiences, the studio were keen to expand upon their own understanding of young demographics for future projects.
