Award-winning sci-fi epic for iOS and Android receives a heavily improved port in Full HD resolution for the Mac and iPad™ 2

Hamburg, Germany, 04 August 2011 – Following the successful release of Valkyrie, the first add-on for the premium mobile game Galaxy on Fire 2™, featuring an iPhone Quality Index of 89 and 90 on the Metacritics ranking, and an optimized version for Tegra 2-powered Android devices, the Hamburg-based high-quality 3D mobile games specialist Fishlabs announces Galaxy on Fire 2™ Full HD , a heavily improved port for the Mac and iPad™ 2. The release of both versions is planned for autumn 2011 and will be presented to the public for the first time in Cologne, Germany at the GDC Europe, Booth 154 and at gamescom 2011 in the Browser Games Park in Hall 9.1, Booth B-031R and in the Business Area in Hall 4.2, Booth M-034.

Galaxy on Fire 2™ is one of the outstanding premium titles for the iPhone™ and iPad™ and also stands out from the crowd with its price of € 7.99. Despite the higher price, the game is enormously popular, and all over the world space pilots praise the quality and tremendous PC-level scope with an average of 4.8 stars. The outstanding gameplay and thrilling story, not to mention the graphics, make the outer space adventure the standard for all sci-fi games in the App Store.

All the graphics assets in the Mac version have been completely revised to feature four-times the original resolution and even more textures have been added. For example, each of the 30 spaceships has its own texture set for diffuse, normal, and specular maps in a resolution of 2048 x 2048 pixels. Along with more graphics improvements, such as the use of additional OpenGL shaders and post effects as well as heavily revised explosion and special effects, the controls have been adapted for mouse, keyboard, and gamepad.

With the port of Galaxy on Fire 2™ to the Mac, Fishlabs fulfils the biggest wish of the GOF2 community and lays the foundation for high-quality, cross-platform sci-fi adventure at console level. Saved games can be transferred seamlessly between the Mac and iPad™ 2 any time using iCloud.

‘We are often asked if we didn’t also want to bring the Galaxy on Fire™ universe to the PC. Up to now, we have shied away from the effort, but with the further development of the current version for multi-core smartphones and tablets, we have already almost achieved console quality. Now we have been able to enhance the game experience even more with additional improvements, including full HD resolution on the Mac. Thanks to the options offered by digital distribution, we are now able to take the step from a mobile games only studio to a cross-platform developer,’ says Michael Schade, CEO of Fishlabs Entertainment.

In Galaxy on Fire 2™ Full HD, players can explore a complete galaxy with over 20 solar systems, 100 different 3D space stations, over 30 extensively equippable spaceships, and countless, exciting freelance missions and a complex trading simulation. The epic story tells of the dramatic battle for survival by the Terrans, Midorians, Nivellians, and the Vossk. Due to a malfunction in the hyper drive of his spaceship, Keith T. Maxwell, the hero of the first part, is catapulted through time and space. He awakens 35 years later and finds himself in a changed galaxy. The Voids, an aggressive alien species, have invaded known space using wormhole technology and threaten the fragile peace.
