Free Lunch Design's Facebook game nominated for prestigious award

Free Lunch Design a leading developer of mobile entertainment is not only the largest Swedish brand on Facebook, their game Hello Adventure is nominated in international gaming awards Golden Joystick Awards 2012.

Since its launch in 1982 the Golden Joystick Awards ( has become the world's best-known gaming awards. The Golden Joysticks are the only annual awards voted for by gamers - last year more than 2 million gamers took part in the process.

Free Lunch Design's Action Adventure Hello Adventure has been shortlisted in the Best Browser/Flash Game category:

”Dungeon crawlers just got cute in this isometric action-adventure that hides intense combat behind a charming aesthetic. Slay monsters, gather loot, level up – think Diablo for the casual crowd…”

Said  Jimmy Öman, Hello Adventure's Lead Designer:

"At the time, no other games in the genre appealed to us. We saw a hole and decided to fill it with adorable monsters and epic adventuring, tailored for the Facebook gaming mindset. We set out to make a game we would enjoy playing ourselves, but with an appeal and complexity suitable for everyone, including our own kids.

It seems that we’ve succeeded."

Magnus Alm, Free Lunch Design's CEO continues:

"As a small, independent studio it was a challenge trying our wings in a saturated market. Social games, such as Hello Adventure is the fastest growing segment within the games industry and the Golden Joystick nomination is a huge recognition of our capabilities."

About the Golden Joystick Awards -

Launched in 1982 during the infancy of videogaming’s life, the Golden Joystick Awards is the world’s best-known gaming awards.

The Golden Joysticks are the only annual awards voted for by gamers – you awesome lot who go out and buy the games – not a stuffy voting panel of ‘experts’ who haven’t actually ventured into a game store – like this year’s lovely sponsors HMV for example – for 10 years. We reckon this adds both authenticity and relevance to our awards.

As well as being very much a ‘people’s choice’ the Joysticks are also a fixture of the games industry calendar. They stand as one of the few opportunities outside of trade shows like E3 and GamesCom for the vibrant industry to get together under one roof to celebrate the year’s greatest gaming achievements.
