Greedy Bankers, the satirical match-em-up puzzler, which spawned a Eurogamer Indie Arcade nominated iPad sequel, has launched a major update for free on the App Store.
The latest version, titled Greedy Bankers: Bailout! contains the Arcade Mode of the original iPhone game entirely free, with two new game modes (Bailout and Mystery) available by in-app purchase. The new game can be downloaded from http://itun.es/iP66K7
In Bailout Mode players race against a two-minute time limit, using valuable power-up gems to maximise their earnings. Mystery Mode adds a mind-bending twist to the game, with the colours of the player's gems hidden from view, forcing them to use their memory and strategy skills to win.
Sound designer Tom Parfitt has provided an all-new soundtrack for the game, as well as brand new sound effects, making for an altogether richer experience.
The game's developer, one-man studio Alistair Aitcheson is excited at the prospects that free-to-play models offer independent studios:
"Without the widespread recognition of larger studios, getting people to try out a game from a relative unknown can be difficult.
"When a game is free, players are much more likely to try it out of curiosity. My hope is that I'm providing enough high-quality gameplay for people to either feel happy to pay to try the new modes, or eager to recommend it to their friends.
"My hope is that this new model will give wider exposure to the game, which I know has as yet untapped potential to reach a mass audience."
Greedy Bankers: Bailout! is available now from the App Store: http://itun.es/iP66K7
It is priced at free, with each additional game mode priced at $0.99/£0.69/€0.79.
