Free Video Game Swapping Service Opens Its Doors

A recently launched video game comparison website has now officially launched the marketplace section to its site; allowing users to sell or trade video games completely free of charge.

Unlike many websites that charge a fee for selling games online, a free marketplace has now opened its doors online; allowing gaming fans to sell or trade their games with other users online, completely free of charge.

The marketplace is run by recently launched website Playr2.com, and aims to help gamers get as much back for their old or unwanted games as possible. Having been in testing stages for the past three months, the Playr2.com Marketplace is now officially up and running; allowing gaming fans to sell or trade their video games online, without having to pay for the privilege.

Named the “Marketplace” on the Playr2.com site, users looking to sell or trade games simply need register their details to create a free account on the Playr2 site; leaving them free to upload any games they wish to sell or trade with other users.

Uploading games to the site has been made as easy as possible, as users simply need to scan the barcode of the game in question via a webcam or the Playr2 mobile app; whereby information of the exact game they wish to sell or trade will be instantly uploaded. If users do not have a webcam or the accompanying Smartphone app, they can search for the titles they wish to sell/ trade on-site; whereby preloaded information stored on-site will be uploaded.

Unlike many video game marketplace sites, the Playr2 website does not charge users for selling on trading games on-site. Users are able to sell and swap free of charge, agreeing prices/ trades independently with the other party.

Those registered on the Playr2.com website will also automatically be entered into monthly and annual prize draws run by the site; with recent competition prizes including free tickets to the upcoming Eurogamer 2011 Expo and £200 worth of Amazon vouchers.

Simon Kilby, Founder of Playr2.com, commented on the marketplace official launch:

“We’re very excited that the Marketplace is finally ready to use, as we believe that it’s important that gamers should be able to sell or swap their games online, free of charge. Although there are other forums and online communities that do this, we aim to make it as easy as possible for gamers by not only allowing them to do it for free, but by using what we believe is a simply barcode scanner- making selling your games as simple as can be.”

He continued:

“It’s a big of a chicken and egg situation at the moment, as the marketplace depends on people signing up to the service to sell their games in order to entice buyers or fellow swappers. We think we’re on to a good thing here though, as there really is nothing to lose. Selling or swapping your games online free of charge is the easiest way to get rid on unwanted games, as well as making a bit of money to put towards those new releases. What have you got to lose?”
