The 2011 Freeplay Independent Games Festival finished up its five day run at the State Library of Victoria with the announcement of the 2011 winners.
Director of Freeplay, Paul Callaghan, said “The awards reflect both the values of the festival and the wide range of projects being created locally and overseas. We were incredibly impressed with the diversity, experimentation, vision, and creativity of all the entries, and look forward to seeing that continue in 2012.”

“We’re extremely pleased at the success of this year’s festival and awards,” Mr Callaghan said. “Over 1800 people came through the entire festival and took part in our games, talks, workshops, and panels around our theme of ‘Handmade’, and we look forward to continuing the conversations that began during the festival’s five days.” The Freeplay Independent Games Festival took place in Melbourne from August 17 – 21, 2011 with a range of events that explored gaming, play, education, art, and culture.
