The sixth gamebook finds the reader travelling to the legendary City of Tarnath Tor, which was destroyed two hundred years ago. Now just a place set within stories and myths, it has been lost to the outside world. A chance encounter with one who claims to be a time traveller sends the reader on a mission, leading them into the great ruins and encountering the dark forces that have made it their home. Who is this wizard from Tarnath Tor and can he be trusted?
The Wizard from Tarnath Tor, written by Al Sander– winner of the 2008 Windhammer Prize for Short Gamebook Fiction– takes the reader on an interactive reading adventure. With different choices to make on every page, items to find and creatures to fight with realistic simulated dice, the story narrative changes depending on the outcome of the selected actions.
The interactive book also contains beautiful illustrations by Gamebook Adventures regular, Dan Maxwell, which can be unlocked to view later, as well as a host of achievements to complete. With the addition of Game Center support, these illustrations and achievements are now awarded points, so that readers can score some bragging rights.
Neil Rennison, Creative Director for Tin Man Games said:“Gamebook Adventures has finally gone social! Before it felt like a very personal journey as all our achievements were only available in the app, but now it brings the experience to a whole new level. We’re planning on adding more functionality to this in the future too.”
A new in-app‘News’ page has also been added to the main menus of each of the gamebook titles. This gives readers of the series the latest announcements from Tin Man Games. Neil continued:“We’ve built up quite a following over the last two years and felt we needed to keep fans abreast of all the latest developments. We have exciting plans for the next two years too, with the involvement of new writers such as Fighting Fantasy’s Jonathan Green, who has penned the next Orlandes gamebook, as well as venturing into new genres such as science-fiction and supernatural romance.”
Gamebook Adventures 6: The Wizard from Tarnath Tor is available to download from the App Store now and normally costs USD$4.99. As a special promotion for its release, all six Gamebook Adventures titles are on sale for USD$2.99 for a limited time.
