Press Release
For Immediate Release
WESTLAKE, Calif., August 6, 2012 -- Paper Planet, LLC, publisher of GameFan
magazine and Girls of Gaming magazine, today announced their partnership
with leading independent video game website, Destructoid. This agreement
will allow both Paper Planet and Destructoid an extended reach into the
marketplace, as well as introduce their respective users to new communities
that have like-minded interests.
The partnership between Paper Planet and Destructoid will give Destructoid
an exclusive editorial space in GameFan magazine that will provide users
with an alternative and uncut look into the Destructoid universe. In
addition to receiving their own editorial space in GameFan magazine,
Destructoid will also become the official gaming site for the digital
distribution of GameFan and Girls of Gaming magazines. Each medium will
offer additional exclusive content that can only be found via their partner,
providing a more robust and unique experience for all users.
"The question for us has always been how to reach our particular audience
online without developing a traditional website said Dave Halverson,
publisher/editor-in-chief of GameFan. As excited as we are to plumb the
depths of the digital format, the problem, until now, was finding an online
venue with a similar doctrine to our own. Destructoid represents everything
we love about gaming websites and nothing we don't. We're proud to offer our
exclusive digital editions through Destructoid, and to carry their banner in
the pages of GameFan."
Part of the ModernMethod family, and known internationally for their
award-winning, raw reporting, Destructoid provides nearly half million
monthly users with up-to-the-minute news on the video game industry.
"We're thrilled to team up with Paper Planet, a company which shares both
our passion for games and our independent spirit," said Dale North,
editor-in-chief of Destructoid. "Many of us read the reviews and editorials
of GameFan in our youth and it's exciting to become a part of that
publication's legacy."
