Gameforge.com Receives Coveted International Stevie Award and Star Trek - Infinite Space Trailer Chosen for Distinguished Honoree Medal
KARLSRUHE, Germany - August 3, 2011 - Gameforge AG, Europe's leading publisher and developer of free-to-play online games, announced today that it has received an International Stevie ® Award and is a Distinguished Honoree in the 2011 International Business Awards. The International Business Awards announced their honorees earlier this morning.
Gameforge earned an International Stevie Award for its portal, Gameforge.com, in the Media category, and a Distinguished Honoree medal for the cinematic trailer of its free-to-play browser game, Star Trek® - Infinite Space, in the PR: Media and Entertainment category.
"These awards further establish Gameforge as a leader in the interactive entertainment space," said Alexander Rösner, CEO of Gameforge. "We have a great team of professionals whose passion, commitment and dedication has not only allowed us to win such awards, but has also helped create rich and unique gaming experiences for our users."
In early 2011, Gameforge rebranded its portal from MMOGame.com to Gameforge.com. Already, this new portal has become a central hub for more than 200 million registered users worldwide, providing users instant access to the company's library of games.
Produced by renowned visual effects company Virgin Lands Animated Pictures, the cinematic trailer for Star Trek - Infinite Space titled "Galaxy at War" was released last fall by Gameforge and CBS Consumer Products. Set during the highly popular "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" TV series timeline, the trailer focuses on the epic space battles present in both the series and the highly anticipated game, Star Trek - Infinite Space, which will be available later this year.
The International Stevie Awards, nicknamed Stevie for the Greek word "crowned," are some of the most coveted recognitions for businesses worldwide. In 2009, Gameforge received a Stevie Award for the Most Innovative Company of the Year in Europe and was a finalist for Best New Product of the Year for its Mediterranean-themed free browser-based game, Ikariam. Judged by a panel of more than 200 business leaders, the Stevie Awards is conferred upon nominees that receive the highest scores by votes in each category.
Recipients of the 2011 Stevie Awards were selected from more than 3,000 entries across industries in more than 40 nations. The award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 11, in the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
