Press Release: LOS ANGELES, CA- August 15, 2012- GAMEVIL®, leading mobile games publisher and developer announced their second quarter results today. The first half of the year reflects substantial growth from its previous years. The $10M Partner Fund has played an important role in the company’s maturation as well as the increasing prevalence of the smartphone market.
In the second quarter, the company earned 15.2 billion KRW in sales, 6.4 billion KRW in operating profits and 5.9 billion KRW in net profits, which reflect a growth of 55%, 57% and 56% respectively from the previous year’s results for the same quarter.
The first half of the year’s 31.8 billion KRW in sales depicts an increase of 96% over the same period a year ago. Operating profits were 12.5 billion KRW and net profits were 11.1 billion KRW, reflecting the best first half since the establishment of the company.
GAMEVIL has assessed that the quarters’ results are correlated with the increase in the smartphone market both domestically and internationally. The first half of the year’s domestic sales grew 67% over the same period in the previous year. Overseas sales have increased 161% and have thus led the company’s sales growth.
The company’s flagship title franchises: Baseball Superstars® series, Cartoon Wars series and ZENONIA® series continue to reflect steady performance in the domestic and international markets. The newly released titles such as Fishing Superstars, Punch Hero and Plants War have also made their debuts in the domestic and international markets as well.
GAMEVIL’s Chief Financial Officer Yong Kuk Lee stated, “Our global smartphone download customer base is currently at a breakthrough 150 million and is an important stepping stone as GAMEVIL looks forward to its future in the global market. Through strengthening brand awareness and continuing to release new quality games, GAMEVIL will work hard for continuous success.”
In the second half of the year, GAMEVIL looks forward to releasing new titles from their Baseball Superstars® and ZENONIA® franchises as well as new social mobile games such as Kingdom Royale, Monster Warlord and Train City Mobile.
