Steve Harris, publisher and founder of Electronic Gaming Monthly, has announced today that Billy Berghammer, industry veteran, will become the new Group Editor-In-Chief of EGM Media. His responsibilities include oversight of both the revamped Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine and its recently introduced weekly companion publication, EGMi: The Digital Magazine.
“Finding someone with Billy’s expertise and knowledge of the industry is rare and we’re very happy to have him guiding the editorial voice of the new Electronic Gaming Monthly,” said Harris.“He brings a clear vision to the publication and a proven ability to build solid editorial teams. His addition is another important step in our journey to return EGM as something more than it was in the past.”
Berghammer will oversee the editorial composition of EGM Media as well as charting the editorial direction of EGM’s print and digital products. Berghammer joins the company after recently being Editorial Director of Gaming for G4 Interactive, Managing Editor of Game Informer Online, and founding PlanetGameCube.com (now NintendoWorldReport.com), one of the longest living Nintendo enthusiast websites.
“This is a unique opportunity to help guide a high-profile brand and oversee its continued evolution into a hybrid print and digital media format,” Berghammer said.“I plan to build upon EGM’s existing 20-plus-year history with a publication that expands upon the existing magazine and website formats. My goal is to build a talented editorial team that our readers will recognize and respect in the same way they’ve trusted EGM to deliver honest analysis in the past.”
