FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tuesday, 13 th December, Newcastle, UK - Darren Jobling, COO of Eutechnyx, has today stepped down as Chairman of GameHorizon after almost seven years in the position. His successor has been named as Gareth Edmondson, newly appointed CEO of mobile publisher Thumbstar.
Jobling announced his resignation from the board in September this year due to increased responsibilities brought about by Eutechnyx’s ongoing expansion. Eutechnyx recently announced growth plans following a funding round that injected £3.8m into a new publishing arm. This will see the free-to-play online racing game and car community title, Auto Club Revolution, released in 2012.
Jobling, who continues as a member of GameHorizon’s board, said, “It’s been a great experience to grow GameHorizon from first principles into a global network with a highly rated annual executive conference. However, it’s now time to hand the baton of responsibility on to Gareth so as to allow me to focus my energies on Eutechnyx and, specifically, the launch of Auto Club Revolution (autoclubrevolution.com) in the coming year.”
Gareth Edmondson recently left his position as Managing Director of Newcastle based Ubisoft studio to take up the role of CEO at the rapidly expanding mobile publisher and developer Thumbstar Games.
On accepting the position at GameHorizon, he said, “The industry is going through a dramatic change with numerous small development teams starting up as well as the larger studios taking on ever more ambitious projects and I’m very much looking forward to the opportunity to support the network and the regional games industry.”
Elspeth Lawson, GameHorizon Project Manager, said, ‘Eutechnyx has always been a huge supporter of GameHorizon. We are incredibly grateful to Darren for his significant contribution over the years and are now looking forward to working with our new chairman.”
Both Gareth Edmondson and Darren Jobling will be on the speaker line up for next years GameHorizon Conference on June 27-28 at the Sage Gateshead. Early bird tickets and further announcements will soon be released.
