FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Windsor, UK and Munich, Germany, 27th September 2007: Game Domain International (GDI) Ltd and Koch Media GmbH today jointly announced a partnership to expand GDI’s white label games download service across European territories, leveraging Koch Media’s local expertise and relationships with major retailers.
GDI Ltd has developed a proprietary technology to deliver full triple-A PC games to consumers, playable in minutes over a standard broadband connection, in contrast to other game download services, which require the entire product to be downloaded before playing, typically hours later. GDI has developed a‘white label’ solution to enable games retail websites to offer their customers their own branded games download service using this technology. Deals are already in place with retailers Game.co.uk and Virgin Game Store.
Under the terms of the agreement, Koch Media will provide full sales, marketing and back office services for the GDI white label service in those territories in which it operates. GDI will provide the technical solution and the necessary infrastructure for its implementation. Additionally, Koch Media’s remit includes the promotion of GDI’s own AWOMO brand with local partners.
“In Koch Media, we have found a partner with the right relationships with the right retail groups to drive the white label solution rapidly throughout Europe,” said Patrick Lorkin, Trading Director of GDI Ltd.“They have the local expertise and resources needed to manage deployment in all major European markets. We look forward to maximising this opportunity together over the coming years.”
“This new partnership brings together the leading download technology provider and the leading independent distributor in Europe. Jointly we lay the foundation for mass market capable games distribution for our internet retailers. This strategic partnership with GDI will help Koch Media to become a digital distributor and deliver a diversified games portfolio to its internet customers with its well known reliability. The unique benefit of this new digital service is that consumers only have to wait minutes before they can start playing in contrast to other services which need to deliver the entire product before players can start gaming,” commented Klemens Kundratitz, Managing Director of Koch Media.
