GfK Chart Track and UKIE extend collaboration

23rd January, 2011 - London, United Kingdom – GfK Chart Track and games and interactive entertainment trade body (UKIE) have today confirmed that they have extended their service agreement ensuring that GfK Chart Track will compile the ‘UKIE Games Charts’ for at least five more years.

The ‘UKIE Games Charts’ record physical video game sales from over 90% of UK retail outlets and are widely regarded as amongst the best in the world. The new agreement sees the continuation of GfK Chart Track as the data gatherers and compilers whilst UKIE continues to distribute and publish the ‘UKIE Games Charts’.

Under the new agreement UKIE remains the exclusive licence holder for UK standard reports whilst GfK Chart Track is responsible for distribution and sale of bespoke reports for the UK as well as pan-European reports incorporating UK sales data.

Jo Twist, CEO of UKIE commented “We are delighted to continue our close relationship with GfK Chart Track. Their sales reports are vitally important to the games industry and we look forward to continuing to deliver them to our members and the market as a whole.”

In related news UKIE has also confirmed that it has sold its stock holding in GfK Chart Track to GfK UK Entertainments Ltd.

John Pinder, MD of GfK Chart Track explained “UKIE were there at the start when GfK Chart Track was established and our relationship has been strengthened over the years. Our new agreement ensures that this relationship will continue and the purchase of UKIE’s shares by GfK UK Entertainments will not alter the high level of service that we offer UKIE or to the quality of the charts and reports supplied to the games industry.”
