Our June 12 GGDA meeting is shaping up to be a great one for industry veterans and newcomers alike! For anyone interested in starting their own company, TJ Mihil, one of our main SIEGE speakers on legal issues, will go over the basics of incorporation and contracts. GGDA treasurer Jessica Mytrohovich will present on basic game developer accounting.
For those of you who already have these basics down, a team of experts from the accounting firm of Habif, Arogeti & Wynne (HA&W) will present on tax credits that apply to game companies. While most of us know about the entertainment tax credit that requires at least a $500,000 budget, there are others (most notably the R&D tax credit) that can even apply to small sole proprietorships.
If you have any interest in starting or becoming part of a game development company, we STRONGLY recommend attending this meeting at the Art Institute of Atlanta’s Dunwoody campus, 6600 Peachtree Dunwoody Road Northeast, Atlanta, GA 30328. 100 Embassy Row, Room 100.
HA&W has been at the forefront of the Gaming Credit and has testified in front of the State of Georgia, come hear from the experts and learn about the recent changes the State made to the Game Development Credit and how it will impact your company.
Did you know your company may also benefit from the Georgia R&D Tax Credit? HA&W will conduct more than 100 R&D Tax Credit Studies this year, including many for game developers. This beneficial credit can be used to reduce tax liabilities and/or create cash savings.
