Golden Joystick Awards Revitalised For 2011

New preview elements planned for awards ceremony

20/05/11– Future, the special-interest media group, today announces its 29th annual Golden Joystick Awards.

The 2011 awards are partnered by GamesMaster, one of the UK’s best-loved and most-respected games brands. The combined heritage and expertise of GamesMaster and the Golden Joystick Awards, stretching back over almost 30 years, is unmatched in the games industry.

The new GamesMaster Golden Joystick Awards will have renewed focus, previewing the games of the future as well as celebrating the best of the past year.

All aspects of the event - from the voting process to the award ceremony, the website to sponsorship and partnership opportunities - have been revisited. The changes bring fresh impetus and vitality to the event ahead of its 30th anniversary in 2012.

”The Golden Joysticks are without a doubt the key awards event in the calendar, as they are voted for by the gaming public,” says Group Publisher Simon Maxwell.“This year, we wanted to add even more potential to the mix. The partnership with GamesMaster makes perfect sense. And bringing in the new experiential, forward-looking elements allows the Joysticks not just to celebrate the best of the last year, but to set the agenda for the coming one.”

Named the“World’s Most Popular Videogames Awards” by Guinness World Records in 2009, the Golden Joystick Awards attracted a best-ever 1.54 million votes in 2010.

Established in 1993 from the seminal TV series of the same name, GamesMaster is among the world’s longest-running and most exciting multi-format games brands.

Voting for the GamesMaster Golden Joystick Awards opens in summer 2011, with the glitzy awards ceremony and infamous after-show party taking place at the Westminster Bridge Park Plaza on Friday 21st October.

Table sales are now open, priced at£2900 for a table of ten.
