Guitar Hero 5 Voted Top Next-Gen Game by Girl Gamers

According to a new poll from a games comparison and marketplace website, ‘Guitar Hero 5’ has been voted as the favourite next-gen video game by girl gamers; beating ‘Assassin’s Creed II’ to the top spot.

A new poll has revealed which next- generation games have proved to be the biggest hit with girl gamers, with ‘Guitar Hero 5’ being voted as the ‘favourite next-gen game’ by female video game fans.

The poll was conducted by www.Playr2.com, a  recently launched video game and marketplace website, as part of research into the gaming preferences of girl-gamers. 1,103 self-confessed female gamers aged 18 and over took part.

The girl gamers taking part in the poll were asked “Which next-generation video games do you consider to be your favourite?” and were able to select multiple responses.

According to the results of the Playr2.com poll, the ‘top ten favourite next-gen video games’, according to girl-gamers, were as follows:

1) Guitar Hero 5 – 34%

2) Assassin’s Creed II- 33%

3) The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess – 29%

4) Halo: Reach – 26%

5) Call of Duty: Black Ops – 24%

6) Final Fantasy XIII – 23%

7) Guitar Hero: World Tour – 19%

8) LittleBigPlanet- 18%

9) Grand Theft Auto IV – 15%

10) FIFA 11 – 12%

Simon Kilby, founder of Playr2.com, commented on the results:

“I think that girl gamers are all-too-often thought of as fans of the more light-hearted, fluffy games, so with this research we wanted to look into which games, in reality, female video game fans favour. It was really interesting to see Guitar Hero 5 top the charts, especially with the likes of adventure game Assassin’s Creed II behind it; proving that girls love a bit of rock, and adventure, as much as the boys.”

He continued:

“Girl gamers are often just as passionate as their male counterparts, and I think the games industry is starting to ensure that big game releases can be of interest to both sexes!”
