Habbo’s latest poll shows Android is more popular than iOS amongst teens

Helsinki, Finland – June 1st , 2012 – Sulake, the parent company of Habbo Hotel, the world's largest social game and online community for teenagers at 10 million monthly unique users, has found in its 2012 poll of over 27,000 teenagers around the world a very high percentage in smartphone ownership.

Nearly half of all the poll respondents were found to own a smartphone (47%) and of these 49% use Google’s popular Android OS compared to 1/3 using Apple’s iOS. The most popular phone is still the iPhone (32%), which reigns supreme among the 13-16 year old respondents, but the survey results showed, that Samsung devices are catching up at 20% of all ownership.

Game apps were the most popular smartphone download for 85% of all the boys and girls polled, proving more popular than music apps at 75%.

Today Sulake launched an Android version of the popular mobile game Niko. The game can be downloaded from the Google Play store.

Like the successful iOS version launched earlier this year, Niko for Android is free to download and play for the first six levels. The full game, comprising of three worlds and more than 30 levels, can be unlocked for £1.59. Niko has been created by Sulake and award-winning developer, Fabrication Games. This action-packed adventure combines genius sling shot actions and amazing platform level designs.

A rare and inspiring creature, Niko needs help to rescue his friends who have been captured in a mysterious Otherworld. As Niko races through challenging game levels, he dodges traps, flips over monsters, and collects achievements on his way to saving all his friends.

Niko also includes direct tie-ins to Habbo Hotel, giving Habbo members extra benefits and value while bringing them back to the online community to share their experiences. There are exciting Niko virtual items that a player can bring back to Habbo, including special Niko Badges and a Niko Trophy. Players can also redeem a ‘Surprise Item’ if the player is able to complete all levels and rescue all of Niko's friends.
