Havok, which provides interactive software and services to digital creators in the international games and movie industries, has won a prestigious National Academy of Television, Arts&Sciences Award at a glittering ceremony in Las Vegas on Monday, January 7, 2008.
Havok, has been honored with the award for their work on pioneering physics engines which makes games more realistic than ever before. The company uses a combination of next generation physics, animation and tools to reach new standards of realism and interactivity in gaming technology and essentially turn their customers' creative aspirations into technical realities.
Many of the world's best selling games this year use the Havok physics engine including Halo 3, Assassin's Creed and Guitar Hero III. The company's superior technology has also been used in other well known game titles including BioShock, MotorStorm, Stranglehold, Crackdown and Age of Empires III.
In relation to the international movie industry, Havok products have been used to drive special effects in titles such as Poseidon, The Matrix, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Havok began as an incubation projectin Trinity College in Dublin in 1998 and in just nine years has become the world's leading provider of physics engines to the global entertainment industry.
The company now works in partnership with the world's best known game developers including Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft and Pandemic Studios and their technology is available across all platforms including PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, PSP, Xbox 360 and the Nintendo WII. As well as being headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, Havok also has offices in San Francisco, San Antonio, Calcutta, Munich and Tokyo.
The National Academy of Television, Arts&Sciences Award won by Havok was voted for by a panel of industry experts, which is made up of a variety of game publishers and developers.
Accepting the award at the event in Las Vegas, David O'Meara, Managing Director of Havok said:
