IGN announces People’s Choice Award at gamescom 2012

10/08/12 – IGN – the world’s most popular video games website, today announces the return of its popular IGN People’s Choice Award  - which lets gamers name IGN’s game of gamescom 2012.

Encouraging the global gaming community to have their say, the IGN People’s Choice Award is given to the title that receives the biggest number of votes from fans online at IGN and from the show floor in Cologne.  Last year, Valve’s DOTA2 scooped the prestigious award, with its fans delivering almost 20% of total votes.

This year, IGN Editors from around the globe have handpicked a list of 50 titles on show at gamescom 2012 which are eligible to win the IGN People’s Choice Award.  The list will be announced at 10AM BST on Wednesday 15 th August – as online voting opens at http://uk-microsites.ign.com/ign-pca/.

Voting runs until 5pm BST on Sunday 19 th August and visitors to the show floor at gamescom 2012 will be able to vote in person from Thursday 16 th until Sunday 19 th with a member of the IGN People’s Choice Award team.

The IGN People’s Choice Award broke a world-record in its first year, as 258,637 votes were cast by gamers online and on the show floor in Cologne.  The award picked up a prestigious Guinness World Record for Guinness World Record for “Most Individuals Voting for a Videogame Award.”
