Press day at the Toy Fair was buzzing as the fourth annual Best New Toys was announced with two new categories, Olympics and Apps. Dr Who Tardis from Zeon, AppGear from Character and Moshi AppMonster from Vivid were named in the App category, which celebrates toys which combine smartphone technology with traditional toy values.
Celebrities flocked to the show including John Barnes, helping to relaunch Subbuteo for Paul Lamond, Steve Backshall with the Deadly 60 licensed toys for Character Options and Lorraine Kelly, announcing the Ra-ra competition winner for Tomy. EastEnder Nina Wadia, Dancing On Ice contestant Andy Akinwolere, and TV presenters Otis Deley and Suzi Perry also made personal appearances at the show.
One of the highlights of the morning was the annual character line-up which saw the likes of Sonic, Dennis the Menace , Bananas in Pyjamas and Peppa Pig mingling with the crowds.
