(TORONTO – December 14, 2011) – Interactive Ontario (IO) today announced that President and CEO Ian Kelso is stepping down to take on an expanded role as the CEO of the Canadian Interactive Alliance/Alliance interactive canadienne (CIAIC).

Max Berdowski, the Vice President and General Manager of IO will take on a greater role within the organization working directly with the Board of Directors and the IO team.

The IO board has hired industry veteran Donald Henderson to work with Berdowski and the IO team during this transition period.  Don was most recently the Chief Operating Officer for Bedlam Games Inc. in Toronto. The board will be overseeing the recruitment of a successor for Kelso.

“Ian has been instrumental in building IO into a robust organization now serving over 300 member companies,” said Mark Bishop, Chair of the IO Board of Directors. “The board thanks Ian for all of his contributions over the years and we look forward to working with him and the CIAIC.”

Kelso was among the founders of Interactive Ontario in 2001 (then called the New Media Business Alliance) and has been the president since 2002. During his tenure he helped launch several interactive digital media conferences including: X-Summit, IN: the Interactive Exchange, GameON: Finance, INplay, and the decade-long iLunch series. Kelso has been the volunteer President and Chair of the CIAIC (the national federation of interactive digital media associations in Canada) since 2007 and is a founding director on their board.
