International game gurus meet up at Barcelona's Game Conference

BARCELONA (SPAIN) – May 30, 2013. - Barcelona Games Conference (aka  Gamelab Barcelona) announced today three new highlights for its already explendid conference program.

After his ambiguous exit of Ubisoft, where he was working on a new project called "1666: Amsterdam", the original creative director for the first two games of  Assassin's Creed, Patrice Desilets, will be back on stage to share his 15 years experience on creating succesful AAA titles, his tricks of the trade in the big AAA game business and what he forsees for the future.

Along with him, another 15 year veteran of the games industry,  Gearbox Creative Director Paul Hellquist, will take his experience from all three of the major titles that he has been in a lead role,  SWAT 4, Bioshock, and Borderlands 2, to offer an exclusive talk that illustrates how game systems can be developed such that between the systems and choices of the players you can create more memorable moments in your games without scripting them.  It would attempt to make the point that the future of games is allowing players to create there own stories that will stay with them much longer than the scripted encounters designers spend so much of their efforts creating.

Last but not less,  Remedy's Matias Myllyrinne ( Max Payne, Alan Wake, …) will join the conference to talk about how an independent studio needs to evolve to face all the current changes in the business ecosystem. A talk that will go through all the shifts in the industry, analyzing how the company tries to seize the opportunities while avoiding the threats from the perspective of an independent studio. Remedy is currently working on an unannounced iOS project as well as the highly anticipated  Quantum Break, developed exclusively for  Xbox One.

The three highlights announced today come to improve an already outstanding program that includes other world-class speakers previously annouced like  PlayStation 4 lead architect Mark Cerny, Rayman creator Michel Ancel, gamification guru Jesse Schell, Counter Strike creator Minh Le, mobile guru Tommy Palm, and the Spanish most influential creators and entrepreuners  Enric Alvarez (Castlevania Lords of Shadow), Xavier Carrillo (Zynga's Respawnables) and Daniel Sánchez Crespo (Sony's Invizimals).
