InvoCube Releases ‘Trapped in Time’: A Unique Time Travel-based Social Farming and Building Game for iPhone

InvoCube [6 th March, 2013]: It is the age of mobile gaming and every mobile game development company is looking for the next big idea or formula that could be a success. One company that thinks it has found this winning formula is InvoCube who have just released a unique social game for the iOS platform. The game, Trapped in Time, provides an innovative twist to simulation games, as it takes the player on a journey through time where they have to live in different civilizations and time periods while farming and building their way through each time period.

Talking about the game’s graphics and design, Steve Marshall, the Creative Director of InvoCube, said, “We wanted to dazzle our players with the imagery, graphics and gameplay. We got to play around with so many civilizations including the Aztecs, Egyptians, Chinese, Russians and Romans. Creating the characters and backgrounds for this game was any designers dream project as we got to fully showcase our creativity and flair with the design. There is no iPhone social game out there with this level of depth in graphics.”

When we enquired about the concept of the game, Pei Yuan, the lead storyboard designer on the game said, “Everyone loves the idea of travelling through time and seeing different civilizations. Trapped in Time doesn’t just let you travel through multiple civilizations, it also lets you construct buildings, farm crops, breed animals and sell your produce! This makes it a simulation game, city building game and farming game, all in one. We had a great time designing the storyboard and we are sure players will enjoy the way the game flows.”

The story of the game places you in a predicament when an experiment with a time machine “Mavis” goes wrong,  placing you in ancient Aztec Civilization. Now you have to build and farm your way through various civilizations to return to present time. You can grow and harvest crops and even mix them with time crystal to create breath-taking gigantic super crops.  You can upgrade your buildings to bigger and better structures and decorate your land with a large number of available decorations

To make it even more interesting, the social game factor lets you interact with friends during the game. There are also a number of added characters that build up the story an provide the player with side missions.

While the story sounds promising and the art work seems engrossing, only time will tell whether this innovative idea will kick off. Either way, it is good to see new ideas still surfacing in the mobile games arena.

Trapped in Time is a social simulation game developed by mobile game developers InvoCube. It can be played on any iOS device (iPhones, iPads and iPods) and is available on the iPhone App Store right now.
