For Immediate Release – Jagex Games Studio, the UK’s largest independent games developer and publisher, today announced two executive level appointments. Daniel Clough has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer while Wendy Rosenthal joins Jagex as Chief Marketing Officer.

Daniel first joined Jagex as the thirteenth employee in 2002, working initially within the customer support team. Moving quickly into managerial roles, Daniel spent the majority of his time working as Jagex’s sole Operations Manager and latterly Head of Games Development, before leaving Jagex in 2009. Daniel returns to Jagex as Chief Operating Officer, where he will oversee all operational aspects of game development for Jagex’s existing and future titles.

“I’m very excited to be taking on the role of Chief Operating Officer,” commented Daniel Clough. “Jagex is extremely well positioned to strengthen both its overall games portfolio and player community significantly and I’m delighted to be able to play a part in making that happen. Jagex is a truly unique company and one that I simply love working for. I continue to be impressed with the passion, talent and commitment of the team and combined with the strength of our future plans, I am confident that Jagex has a very successful future ahead.”

Wendy joins Jagex as Chief Marketing Officer, taking overall responsibility for all marketing activity and for building Jagex’s corporate and games brands. Wendy has over fifteen years of entertainment and brand building experience. Her successful marketing career has included working for Sony Development for six years, managing Hyper Entertainment and consulting with some on the biggest brands in the world including Abbey Road Studios, Microsoft and Ferrari. As Chief Marketing Officer, Wendy will be responsible for defining Jagex’s future marketing strategy as well as overseeing the relationship with Jagex’s publishing partners.

“I am really excited to be welcomed into the Jagex team,” commented Wendy Rosenthal. “Jagex has been creating amazing games which entertain millions of people, young and old, in over 200 countries across the world for the last ten years. This in itself is a very exciting prospect from a marketing perspective. The company will not only be investing in great game content for RuneScape, but on developing and growing other titles, and for the first time focus will also be on marketing not just amazing content. Over the coming months we will, through marketing, be looking to engage with audiences from all over the world to mirror the way our phenomenal Community Management team engage with our vast, and dedicated existing community. We have a hugely exciting twelve months ahead with the release of 8Realms, Transformers Universe TM  and Stellar Dawn and very soon the noise from the Jagex corner will have people sitting up and listening. There are some who may think they know Jagex, and some who do not, but if you think you know Jagex then think again and watch this space!”

Commenting on both appointments, Mark Gerhard, Jagex CEO said, “Daniel and Wendy bring a huge weight of experience to Jagex’s leadership team. Daniel is a testament to Jagex’s ability to nurture talent from within; he was one of the first people to join Jagex in 2002 and was employee number 13. Having worked at Jagex for nearly a decade he has an unparalleled understanding of Jagex setting him in great stead to fulfil and deliver in his role for the strategy and operations of our fast growing and evolving business.” Gerhard went on to say “Wendy brings over a decade of marketing expertise to the Jagex family. Having worked on numerous highly successful campaigns for world renowned brands, Wendy’s understanding of the games market coupled with her consumer brand experience makes her the perfect candidate to raise Jagex’s profile, support our new product releases and reach new audiences across the globe.”
